Kanye West is coming to Lizzo’s defense after the singer took a swipe at critics of her weight loss.

The “Good as Hell” singer shared an Instagram video last week showing off her new body after losing nearly 30 pounds. In the clip, she can be seen doing squats and lunges while sipping on celery juice — which some fans deemed unhealthy and even dangerous for losing weight so quickly.

One Twitter user wrote: “I love you Lizzo but this isn’t a healthy approach to weight loss… You need protein, greens and fats if you want to lose weight!” But instead of ignoring these comments, like most celebrities do nowadays when they get called out online (and rightfully so), Kanye came to Lizzo’s defense by replying directly with his own thoughts on what it means to live healthy.

Kanye West, who lost 100 pounds in 2018, posted a video on Twitter of himself having fun with his children and rapping about how he “lost 100 pounds / Came back stronger than ever.”

Kanye West Supports Lizzo

In response to Kanye West’s post, Lizzo tweeted on Tuesday: “I see now that I need to lose weight in order for people to stop using me as a reference point for what it means for women of color to be [thin] or not thin enough. I don’t understand how this has been allowed so long but it’s time this stops being acceptable. POC bodies are not here for you all to gawk at any time you want.”

Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson, has been working hard to shed pounds and get healthy for her upcoming tour. In recent weeks, she’s shared videos of herself performing squats and lunges while sipping on a celery juice. But some fans didn’t think it was such a good idea. “I love you Lizzo but this isn’t a healthy approach to weight loss,” one Twitter user wrote after the “Good as Hell” singer shared a video of herself on Instagram performing squats and lunges while sipping on a celery juice.
