Kuo: Affordable ‘Apple Vision’ Headset Postponed Until After 2027

Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has reported that Apple has postponed the release of a more budget-friendly Apple Vision headset, initially expected in 2025. The timeline has now extended by a couple of years.

Earlier speculations suggested that Apple aimed to introduce a lower-cost Apple Vision headset next year, utilizing more affordable materials, reduced resolution displays, and omitting EyeSight support, thereby making spatial computing more accessible. However, Kuo indicates this is no longer the plan.

Kuo also mentions that a new version of the Apple Vision Pro is scheduled for release next year, featuring the M5 chip and support for Apple Intelligence. It remains uncertain whether there will be any significant hardware enhancements.

The analyst drew a parallel between the affordable Apple Vision and Apple’s HomePod mini, noting, “even after introducing the more affordable HomePod mini, Apple’s smart speakers did not achieve mainstream popularity.”

It appears Apple doubts that a $2000 headset would significantly increase the audience for visionOS.
