A new set of iPhone 17 dummy models based on CAD sketches has emerged from a leaker, revealing details that haven’t been previously shown.
The prototypes of the two iPhone 17 Pro variants suggest which parts of the back casing will be made of metal and which will be made of glass.
Late last year, it was reported that the backs of the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max would feature a novel construction combining aluminum and glass.
The design for the back of the Pro and Pro Max models will showcase a combination of aluminum and glass. The upper portion will contain a larger rectangular camera bump fashioned from aluminum, moving away from traditional 3D glass. The lower section will remain glass to facilitate wireless charging, as shared by two sources.
This report also implied that Apple might abandon the use of titanium, though that may stem from a misinterpretation due to unclear wording.
Since then, we have not received any detailed information regarding how the rear casing will be divided between metal and glass, but this situation may have changed now.
