Leaker Indicates iPhone 18 Fold Price Could Reach 00, Exceeding Rivals’ Costs

A tip from leaker Instant Digital on Weibo indicates that Apple’s inaugural foldable iPhone is expected to retail between $2100 and $2300, marking it slightly above Samsung’s current Galaxy Z Fold 6.

Sources suggest that Apple will unveil its first foldable iPhone next year, coinciding with the release of the iPhone 18 series. It’s anticipated to include a 5.5-inch external display along with a larger 7.8-inch internal display featuring an almost 4:3 aspect ratio. Apple is also reportedly aiming to resolve the crease challenges present in other foldable devices.

Some analysts foresee that the foldable iPhone launching in 2026 will aid Apple in countering declining sales figures.

In a previous analysis, Apple expert Ming-Chi Kuo had indicated that the starting price for this foldable iPhone would be over $2000. Today’s update from Instant Digital provides a more specific estimate:

Taking into account the profit margins on iPhones, the foldable screen’s price is projected to range from US$2,100 to US$2,300, only marginally higher than Samsung’s.

This pricing is notably above Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, which is currently priced starting at $1899.99. Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold is slightly lower, beginning at $1799.

With a price point reaching up to $2300, Apple’s entry will undoubtedly position itself at the premium end of the market, though this isn’t unexpected. Considering Apple’s aspirations for this device, such a price could be warranted. Furthermore, initial production is likely to commence at a slower pace.

Given that iOS is better suited to manage tablet-like screens compared to Android, anticipation for an Apple foldable has been building for years. While it comes with a hefty price tag, all indications suggest that a launch is finally on the horizon for next year.
