Lizzy Savetsky

Lizzy Savetsky is leaving the Real Housewives Of New York reboot over anti-Semitism.

The departure of Liza Szesztay, who played a part in the RHONY reboot’s Season 8 episode titled “The Reunion Part 3,” is being seen as a blow to the show. Savetsky had been one of the more popular cast members over the years, and her exit comes amid an ongoing debate about anti-Semitism in casting and production practices.

Savetsky, whose real name is Lizzy Szesztay and who converted from Judaism to Catholicism when she got married, has been outspoken about racism against her people in Hollywood before. She was featured in an article for The New York Times earlier this year highlighting some of these issues: ‘Nowhere are white Jewish actors more prevalent than on reality TV,’ writes Ben Brantley.
