The Mandalorian star, Gina Carano is not going to continue working for Lucasfilm, announces the popular production company this Wednesday, February 10th. This happens after Gina Carano comes under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons for her recent social media posts.
A statement released by the production company, Lucasfilm read that the actor is not currently employed by them and they have no plans to resume working with her in the future. They further mention in the statement that using the social media platform to denigrate people and spread hatred based on religious and cultural identities is completely “abhorrent” and unacceptable.
Gina Carano who appeared as the bounty hunter in both the seasons of Disney+ and Lucasfilm’s ‘The Mandalorian’ was supposed to appear in the later season as well. However, her recent TikTok posts and the controversy that has sparked off from her posts makes it seem like we will not be seeing any more of her on screen.
Gina Carano Says Political Disagreement Is Similar To The Nazi Germany’s Ethnic Cleansing
The post that triggered an immediate criticism of her was when she compared the current political climate in the United States to that in Nazi Germany. She wrote that Jews faced violence on the streets but they were beaten not by the Nazi soldiers, but by their neighbors. According to her, the government had instigated hatred among the rest of the countrymen against the Jews that led to the worsening of the situation in Germany. Extending a parallel to this statement she said, “How is that any different from hating someone for their political views?”
This triggered a backlash from people saying that her post is “unnecessary” and “vile”. A recent hashtag #FiregGinaCarano started trending on Twitter. In the past, Carano has also furthered transphobic comments that had also sparked debates regarding her.
