Lutron is well-known for its premium HomeKit-compatible window coverings, typically associated with a steep price. However, the company aims to tackle this issue with the introduction of the new Caséta Smart Shade.
According to Lutron, you can anticipate the same quality and performance they are recognized for, now offered at a more budget-friendly price of $399 for most window sizes.
We previously reviewed Lutron’s Serena line back in 2018, appreciating the product but not quite the nearly $900 price tag for each window.
The build quality meets my expectations; I’m pleased with both the appearance and the shade material. The Serena Motorized Shades respond well and operate seamlessly. While the motor isn’t silent enough for audio recording, it’s not a significant concern during regular use.
However, transitioning an entire home to HomeKit-controlled windows with this product may be a challenge. The pricing for a single window can be less than appealing, and for a whole house, you might want to incorporate the expense into your mortgage!
In fact, when I evaluated the costs for outfitting my apartment (adorned with numerous floor-to-ceiling windows), the total soared to an alarming $22,000!
