Machine Gun Kelly and Megan Fox have been a couple known for their unconventional relationship. From exchanging drops of each other’s blood to intense public displays of affection, they’ve consistently captured headlines. Among their eccentric choices, one stood out: a custom-designed engagement ring that would physically hurt Fox if she tried to remove it.
Love and Pain: The Thorny Engagement Ring
The ring, designed by MGK in collaboration with Stephen Webster, featured the couple’s birthstones—an emerald for Fox and a diamond for MGK—set on two magnetic bands of thorns. “The concept is that the ring can come apart to make two rings,” MGK explained in Vogue. “When together, it forms an obscure heart. But the bands are thorns, so if she tries to take it off, it hurts.”
According to MGK, this design reflected his belief that “love is pain.” It was an unconventional take on commitment, albeit one that sparked widespread fascination and critique.
Fox herself embraced the unconventional nature of their engagement, writing in her announcement post: “And just as in every lifetime before this one, and as in every lifetime that will follow it, I said yes…and then we drank each other’s blood.”
Despite their intense bond, the couple called off their engagement, with Fox later removing the ring—pain and all. However, this wasn’t the end of their love story. In a heartfelt announcement earlier this month, Fox revealed she and MGK are expecting their first child together.
The announcement followed Fox’s earlier revelation of a miscarriage, adding a layer of poignancy to their joyous news. “Nothing is ever really lost. Welcome back,” Fox shared on Instagram, alongside baby and heart emojis.
From pain-inflicting rings to enduring love, MGK and Fox’s relationship remains as extraordinary as ever, continuing to captivate fans worldwide.
