Major Airlines Now Support iOS 18.2’s New Find My Feature

Recently, with the release of iOS 18.2, Apple added an exciting new feature to Find My, enabling users to share the location of their misplaced items with others, including airlines. Apple has now revealed the major airlines currently supporting this feature.

Three Leading Airlines Now Engage in Find My Bag Tracking

One of the popular applications for Find My is attaching an AirTag to your luggage and monitoring your checked bag during flights.

With the introduction of iOS 18.2, Apple incorporated the capability to share an item’s location with airlines, and it was previously stated that over 15 airlines would roll out support worldwide in the upcoming months. One additional app integration was added just last week.

Now, just as the bustling holiday travel season approaches, we have confirmation on which of those 15 airlines are presently ready to assist in tracking lost luggage.

Greg Joswiak from Apple shared some insights on X:

Great news for travelers! Starting this week, United, Delta, and Air Canada will accept Find My item locations to aid in tracking delayed luggage, with more airlines set to join soon. This is truly transformative!

If you are traveling this week, keep in mind that three major airlines currently enable the new Find My feature:

Delta and United serve a considerable share of air travel in the US, which means many American iPhone users will have the ability to share the location of their missing bags with these airlines if necessary.

How to Utilize Find My’s New Airline-Compatible Feature

If you encounter issues with lost luggage, follow these steps to share its location:

  1. Confirm you are on iOS 18.2
  2. Launch Find My and select the missing item
  3. Tap ‘Share Item Location’
  4. A webpage with a shareable link for tracking will be generated

Each airline has its own process for submitting the shared link, so be sure to verify the instructions with your airline.

Additionally, remember to disable the tracking link once your luggage has been successfully located.

Have you attempted to share a Find My item’s location with an airline? We would love to hear about your experience in the comments.
