Stimulus Check

A large section of the population of Massachusetts should definitely expect a stimulus check payment of $500 in their mail in the next few weeks, with the state government going forward on a completely new round of direct stimulus payments. This would help the citizens deal with the rise in the prices of fuel, food, and other consumer goods.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time that the state has chosen to spend the money that was obtained through the American Rescue Plan of Joe Biden on direct payments. In a press release in May, the Executive Office for Administration and Finance went on to announce the second round of the premium payments that were specifically designed for low-income workers.

The latest round of stimulus check payments will surely be made available to the citizens, with the checks soon to start appearing in the mailboxes by the end of the month. The statement from the 19th of May read that the Baker-Polito Administration went on to announce their plans for a second round of the $500 payments that would be issued to low-income workers under the COVID-19 Essential Employee Premium Pay program- which was passed by the Massachusetts Legislature and further signed by Governor Baker in December 2021.

It is being understood that the stimulus check payments will be delivering close to $165 million to around 330,000 eligible individuals in June. The program was also praised by Ron Mariano, the Massachusetts House of Representatives. He tweeted that the essential workers who worked to keep the country running during the pandemic absolutely deserve this.

The eligibility for the latest round of stimulus check payments will be quite similar to the last time. However, this time, the criteria have been updated to account for the different changes that have been made to federal poverty level calculations.
