There is no other state in the United States that mirrors Alaska’s economic model, which heavily relies on utilizing the state’s natural resources. In this regard, oil and gas are key components that enhance and boost the state’s economy.
As a result, residents of Alaska may be eligible for a stimulus check derived from the sale of these resources, significantly benefiting the financial situation of each individual. If qualified for payment, recipients could find themselves with one of these stimulus checks amounting to over $1,700 within a short timeframe.
Consequently, receiving the Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD) provides substantial financial relief, as it represents a completely free check for which recipients need only meet the established criteria set by the government. Eligible individuals will receive their payment promptly, and they are free to use the funds however they see fit, without the need for justification.
Eligibility Criteria for the $1,700 Stimulus Check
It’s important to note that this stimulus check is exclusive to Alaska. Therefore, residents from other states in the U.S. are ineligible to receive this payment, as the Permanent Fund Dividend is specific to Alaska.
With that said, let’s review the general eligibility requirements:
- It is mandatory to have resided in Alaska during the year 2024. This means that residents who did not live in Alaska the previous year cannot qualify for this payment. However, an absence exceeding 180 days may be allowed under special circumstances.
- Residency must not be established in another state during 2024. While it is permitted to leave Alaska in 2024, individuals must not have claimed residency outside of the state in the prior year.
- A minimum stay of 72 consecutive hours is required. Even if individuals travel outside the state, they must have been physically present in Alaska for at least 72 consecutive hours to qualify for the PFD stimulus check.
- A clean criminal record is essential. Those with serious felony convictions after January 1, 1997, may not be eligible to receive this stimulus check.
By meeting these criteria, on February 20th, 2025, eligible residents will receive the Permanent Fund Dividend, which will provide just over $1,700 to qualified individuals.
