Say his name three times to call him. In Tim Burton’s “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” Michael Keaton makes a reappearance as everyone’s favorite raucous spirit.
Warner Bros. announced the sequel to the 1988 cult hit with two photos. The “Batman” actor was shown in one of the pictures with frizzy hair and a striped black-and-white suit. Admirers felt a rush of nostalgia upon witnessing the star looking much like his ghostly persona. The studio also unveiled a photo featuring “Schitt’s Creek” actress Catherine O’Hara and “Stranger Things” star Winona Ryder alongside recent additions Justin Theroux (“The Leftovers”) and Jenna Ortega (“Wednesday”).
Which Characters Appear In “Beetlejuice”?
Ryder will reprise the titular role, while O’Hara will reprise her role as Lydia Deetz’s mother, Delia Deetz. Ortega, who honed his skills in haunting roles as Wednesday Addams in Burton’s Netflix series, will play Lydia’s daughter Astrid. Though not much is known about Rory, Theroux will play him. The film will also include Monica Bellucci and Willem Dafoe. The “Spiderman” star told Variety in November that he is playing an afterlife police officer and former action hero from B movies.
Following his role as Batman in DC’s “The Flash” the previous year, Keaton is returning to the franchise. “Beetlejuice 2″ will follow the Deetz family after a death summons Beetlejuice back to life. The late Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin starred as Barbara and Adam Maitland in the original film, who used the titular monster to chase the Deetz family out of their home.
