Apple and Netflix appear to have found common ground and established a collaboration for integration within the Apple TV app. Certain users in the US are now beginning to receive prompts to link their Netflix accounts to the Apple TV app on their Apple TV 4K devices.
Once linked, Netflix original titles can be added to the Watchlist within the TV app and show up in the Continue Watching section. Despite this progress, the integration seems to be in the early stages, indicating that a complete rollout may still be underway.
The TV app’s queue serves as its main feature, bringing together all the shows users are watching across different platforms into a single list of upcoming content. Playback progress is synchronized, which allows users to get alerts when a new episode is available. This functionality enables tracking of streaming shows across services such as Disney+, Max, and more in one cohesive list.
However, Netflix has historically not supported this feature, which meant their content was omitted from the integration. With this recent development, it seems they are finally joining this initiative.
For users who have access to this integration, they can now link their Netflix and Apple TV accounts to see Netflix original series like Stranger Things and Squid Game in their Apple TV watchlist. It’s worth noting, though, that playback progress doesn’t appear to be functioning just yet.
Since users are already experiencing this new feature, an official statement from Apple and Netflix regarding their partnership is likely forthcoming. (As of the time of publication, Apple’s official list of supported apps has not been updated since March 2024, and Netflix is not included.)
