It may not feel like it, but trust me when I say summer is on its way! The Minnesota State Fair is backing this up with their upcoming Kickoff to Summer event, set for next month.

Advance Tickets for Minnesota State Fair Kickoff to Summer
Early bird tickets will be available starting Friday, April 4th at 10 AM. You’ll pay $13 for entry, but if you wait, it’ll cost you $16. Keep in mind, they have a limited number of tickets available, so once they’re sold out, you’ll be out of luck.

This marks the fifth year the state fair hosts a sort of mini-state fair with the Kickoff to Summer event. While I haven’t attended myself, it seems like a more laid-back alternative to the main state fair, still featuring plenty of delicious food and beverages without the huge crowds.

New Culinary Delights at Minnesota State Fair’s Kickoff to Summer
In terms of food and drinks, nearly 40 vendors from the state fair will participate in the Kickoff to Summer. Expect to see beloved classics like Sweet Martha’s Cookies and the ever-popular Mini Donut Beer.

Additionally, there’s an exciting new treat debuting for 2025.
This dish first made waves at the state fair in 2024 and quickly became a fan favorite. I was eager to try it, but every time I approached the stand, the line was outrageously long. I’m hoping to experience it next year when the buzz hopefully dies down.
That dish is the Deep-Fried Ranch Dressing from LuLu’s Public House!

This treat reminds me of a cream cheese wonton, but instead of cream cheese, it features ranch! You’ll be able to enjoy it at the state fair’s Kickoff to Summer, and I suspect the lines will be much shorter since they cap daily attendance.

The Minnesota State Fair Kickoff to Summer is scheduled for Thursday, May 22nd and Friday, May 23rd from 4 – 9 PM, and Saturday, May 24th and Sunday, May 25th from 11 AM – 7 PM.
