The upcoming iPhone SE 4 from Apple is set to launch this March, and recent images shared by Sonny Dickson on X give us an exciting preview.
Initial insights into the iPhone SE 4 design unveil important features
Sonny Dickson is known for showcasing dummy models of new iPhones that are typically quite true to the actual products Apple releases.
Now, he’s shared the above images that offer a first glimpse of the iPhone SE 4.
From these images, we can draw several significant conclusions about the new iPhone.
To start, it will be available in two colors: black and white.
While the current iPhone SE offers these two shades—Midnight and Starlight—with an additional choice of (PRODUCT)RED, it appears Apple might be discontinuing the red variant with this new release.
Another noteworthy aspect highlighted by these images is the larger camera bump. Although the iPhone SE 4 will feature only a single rear camera, it is considerably larger than the one on the existing SE.
This is because Apple is anticipated to equip the SE 4 with the same primary camera as that found in the iPhone 15 (and potentially even the iPhone 16).
Additionally, the side view of the new SE 4 reveals a premium aluminum frame.
This new frame aligns with the design of the iPhone 14, which is reflected in much of the SE’s new design. However, it decidedly contrasts with the current SE, which has a more pronounced ‘budget model’ appearance.
The high-quality finish of the aluminum frame, along with the neutral color choices of black and white, lends this model a resemblance to Apple’s Pro-class iPhones.
iPhone 16E might still be a possibility
I may be overanalyzing this, but the sight of the iPhone SE 4 dummy model makes me contemplate the recent rumors about its naming.
A leaker hinted earlier this month that the new SE might actually carry the iPhone 16E brand.
As mentioned in that week’s Rumor Replay column, my instinct was to be doubtful of the rumor. However, the array of iPhone 16-level features present in the new SE piqued my interest.
Now, after seeing these images, I’m starting to think that the iPhone 16E designation could indeed hold water. This device certainly doesn’t give off a ‘budget model’ vibe, so if Apple opts to, it could brand it as iPhone 16E while potentially retaining the current SE at a more affordable price.
Regardless, we won’t have to wait long to find out the answers to these questions.
