New iPhone 16e Available for Pre-Order Starting at 9

The new iPhone from Apple is now available for pre-order. Visit Apple’s official website to place your order for the iPhone 16e, with the first shipments scheduled for Friday, February 28. The device will also be available in physical Apple retail locations on that same day.

Here’s a concise overview of what the iPhone 16e has to offer.

Specifications and Features of the iPhone 16e

The iPhone 16e enters the lineup featuring a 6.1-inch OLED display, a notch design for the front camera, and Face ID for secure biometric authentication. It comes with an Action button that replaces the traditional mute switch and uses USB-C for charging and data transfer instead of the Lightning connector.

Powering the device is the A18 chip, paired with 8GB of RAM. This impressive configuration supports a variety of Apple Intelligence features, such as Writing Tools, Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, and additional capabilities coming in future software updates.

A standout element is the inclusion of the C1 modem, Apple’s first-designed cellular modem. Apple claims it is “the most power-efficient modem ever found in an iPhone.” When combined with the A18 chip, the iPhone 16e promises the “best battery life” to date for a 6.1-inch iPhone, with video playback lasting up to 26 hours.

In terms of photography, the iPhone 16e includes a single 48MP Fusion camera with a built-in 2x Telephoto option. By default, it takes stunning 24MP photos but also allows for the option to shoot in 48MP. The integrated Telephoto capability ensures you can zoom in without compromising image quality, eliminating the need for a separate telephoto lens. The device also supports HDR, Portrait mode, and Night mode, enhancing overall photographic functionality.

The front of the iPhone 16e features a 12MP selfie camera with autofocus capabilities.

However, there are some limitations worth noting. The iPhone 16e does not support MagSafe, but it does accommodate standard Qi wireless charging. Additionally, it lacks an Ultra Wideband chip, which affects compatibility with the Precision Finding feature for AirTags, AirPods, and the Find My network. This could also influence future compatibility with Home app devices and digital car keys.

The starting price for the iPhone 16e is $599 for the 128GB variant. This marks a significant increase compared to the iPhone SE, which previously served as Apple’s entry-level iPhone, starting at $429 for 64GB and $479 for 128GB.

Here are the complete pricing options for the iPhone 16e, which is offered in black and white variants:

  • 128GB: $599
  • 256GB: $699
  • 512GB: $899

With the introduction of the iPhone 16e, Apple has phased out the iPhone SE and iPhone 14 Plus. Although the iPhone 14 is no longer featured on Apple’s website, it will still be available through retail channel partners.
