Various reports indicate that Apple may unveil new iPads and the iPhone SE 4 in the first half of 2025. Initially, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman mentioned a spring launch, but he has since clarified that Apple aims to introduce these devices “by April.”
Upcoming iPhones and iPads
Recently, an anonymous source on X, known for reliable insights, claimed that the upcoming devices will come with iOS 18.3 pre-installed. Apple has been enhancing this software version to support the new hardware. Typically, iOS and iPadOS “.3” updates are released in late January.
However, this does not imply that the announcement of the new iPads and iPhone SE 4 will coincide with the iOS 18.3 release. Gurman has stated that the products will be revealed separately. With spring starting mid-March in the northern hemisphere, it is anticipated that Apple will announce these products sometime between March and April, a pattern observed in past launches.
Last year, the M4 iPad Pro and M2 iPad Air made their debut in May alongside iPadOS 17.4. Apple has also confirmed an intention to roll out iOS 18.4 to the public in April, which will introduce Apple Intelligence for languages other than English for the first time. Given that the new devices are expected to ship with the “.3” software, we can pinpoint a clearer timeframe for their launch.
Rumors suggest that Apple plans to launch at least three new iOS devices in spring 2025: the iPhone SE 4, iPad 11, and a refreshed iPad Air. The iPhone SE 4 is said to resemble the iPhone 14, featuring a single rear camera and housing the A18 chip from the iPhone 16. Conversely, the iPad 11 is projected to receive a performance upgrade with a faster chip (likely the A17 Pro) to facilitate Apple Intelligence support.
Details regarding the new iPad Air remain somewhat ambiguous since Apple refreshed this model last year with the M2 chip. All new devices are expected to be unveiled in a special event or a series of announcements.
