At this stage, it’s clear that a consistent narrative regarding the iPhone 17 design for all four models is taking shape, and a new video featuring 3D-printed mockups vividly illustrates these designs.
The designs derive from CAD files initially leaked by Majin Bu and have gained endorsements from two other Apple insiders.
The iPhone 17 Line-Up
This year, we’re anticipating four models, with the Plus model being replaced by a new ultra-slim Air variant:
- iPhone 17 (dual cameras)
- iPhone 17 Air (slim with a single camera)
- iPhone 17 Pro (triple cameras)
- iPhone 17 Pro Max (triple cameras)
iPhone 17 Design Mockups
Notably, the video features only three models, as the designs for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are believed to be virtually identical except for size differences.
Among the four, the base iPhone 17 seems the least captivating, as its design mirrors that of the iPhone 16.
The entry-level iPhone 17 is essentially unchanged; from the volume controls to the Action button, everything remains the same. We also see the camera controls on one side and the Siri side button. Even the dimensions appear to match those of the previous model.
The iPhone 17 Air is projected to be significantly thinner than the other models, targeting users who prioritize sleekness over additional features, featuring just one camera within a new horizontal bar.
This iPhone is incredibly slim—it’s astonishing! Just look at this: the buttons are nearly as thick as the phone itself, and the USB-C port is almost as thick as the device […]
It features a brand-new camera module on the back that closely resembles that of the Google Pixel. […] Let’s measure the depth of this design—wow, it’s just 0.22 inches. This is going to be the thinnest iPhone yet. However, it’s important to note that due to its slimness, MagSafe might not be compatible with this model.
While both Pro models maintain the same triangular three-camera setup as current models, a significant change is anticipated: the raised camera module will likely extend nearly the entire width of the phone.
Measurements based on CAD files suggest the Pro models will be slightly thicker this year. This aligns with a recent Weibo report indicating that this additional thickness allows for a larger battery.
An important note regarding these simplistic 3D models is that they do not capture the actual finish of the devices, serving only as a rough reference for the design rather than their true appearance.
