New Video Showcases the Mac’s Essential Role in the Creation of Severance

Today, Apple released a new article and video showcasing the Mac’s integral role in the making of Severance. Be cautious of spoilers if you haven’t yet seen the season 2 finale.

Behind the Mac features Severance spotlight

In a recent article on Apple Newsroom, Geoffrey Richman, one of the editors for Severance, shares insights on how the Mac was essential for his work on the show. This is part of the ongoing Behind the Mac series.

Richman explains his preference for the Mac over PC:

“I really prefer the Mac interface to that of a PC,” he states. “The layout of the operating system is much more intuitive for me, enabling faster transitions between applications.”

The setup is perfect for a position that doesn’t always have a fixed workspace. While Richman and the other editors primarily work remotely, he sometimes visits the set, where there’s an edit suite equipped with an iMac. He also takes his MacBook Pro to the set for easy access to cuts for reference when needed.

“I have the flexibility to work on my laptop or my iMac, whether I’m at the post facility or at Ben’s office. As long as I’m logged into my account, my work is synced across devices,” explains Richman, who values the seamless data sharing and collaboration enabled by iCloud and Continuity. “If I think of an idea while lying in bed, I can jot it down on my iPhone, and it’ll be there in the Notes app on my desktop the next day. That aspect of the Mac is incredibly useful — it allows me to not worry about which device I’m using.”

Additional highlights from the article include:

  • how the Mac simplifies multitasking during editing
  • the use of AirPods Pro 2 across iPhone and Mac for audio testing
  • organizing the elaborate finale marching band sequence
  • and more

For a more visual perspective on the Mac’s involvement in the creation of Severance, Apple has also released a new video, which contains spoilers for the season 2 finale, “Cold Harbor.”

Apple TV+ is available for $9.99 per month and features popular shows and movies like Ted Lasso, Severance, The Morning Show, Silo, and Shrinking. There are also several ways to watch for free.
