Apple’s upcoming version of CarPlay continues to make headlines. Recently, new CarPlay icons were introduced in a beta version of iOS 18.2, and now additional next-gen CarPlay assets have surfaced in a publicly accessible online database.
Latest assets emphasize Audi CarPlay instruments
Apple has stated that the first vehicles featuring its ‘next generation’ CarPlay will be released this year, although the exact models remain undisclosed.
One clue may be found in a recent submission to the European Union Intellectual Property Office. As reported by MacRumors via contributor Aaron Perris, the online database recently published an Apple application for what appear to be Audi-specific next-gen CarPlay assets.
These new assets were initially filed with the EUIPO on August 11, 2024, and have just become publicly available as of November 15.
No particularly groundbreaking or novel elements have been revealed in these assets that haven’t already been seen in Apple’s previous design concepts. Furthermore, it was already known that Audi would be partnering with Apple for next-gen CarPlay.
Nonetheless, these assets serve as further confirmation that the development of the next generation of CarPlay is actively progressing, and we hope it will be available soon.
