The highly acclaimed horror franchise Resident Evil has made its way to the App Store once again. After 26 years since its original release, Resident Evil 2 is now available for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users.
*Although this is technically the 2019 remake, as a 90s kid, I truly appreciate the arrival of a classic game from 1998 on modern Apple devices.
Capcom is offering a special launch discount of 75% on the title for a limited period.
Capcom shared the news of the launch and mentioned that players can test the game prior to making a purchase:
Join Leon and Claire as they battle to survive a catastrophic viral outbreak in Raccoon City.
Players can download Resident Evil 2 from the App Store and experience a portion of the captivating narrative for free before buying the complete game.
The good news is that Resident Evil 2 is a universal app, compatible with iPhone, iPad, and Mac, allowing players to sync their progress across devices.
However, the downside for some users is that Resident Evil 2 requires at least an iPhone 15 Pro, any iPhone 16, plus M-series iPads and Macs. If your device runs Apple Intelligence, it can handle Resident Evil 2.
The game is free to download and features two in-app purchases: $9.99 to unlock the full game and $1.99 for all in-game rewards. Capcom highlights that the $9.99 launch price is a 75% discount, valid until January 8, 2025, making it a great time to buy if you’re unsure.
Note: Resident Evil 2 is a 723.9 MB download for iPhone and iPad but requires an additional 22.11 GB of space on a Mac for installation.
Last year, Capcom released Resident Evil 4 on the App Store, and both Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 7 Biohazard are also available.
