Twitter bans an account permanently from its platform after a post from the account threatens former President Donald Trump. The post shows an image where Mr. Trump is seen playing golf and a shadow of a drone looms over the former president. The post includes a caption threatening revenge on Trump. Since the post was doing rounds over the social media platform, there were rising concerns regarding it. This is when Twitter decided to take action against it.
Supreme Leader Linked With The Twitter Handle
Many people from Iran has claimed that the mentioned account is linked with Ali Khamenei. The account @khamenei_site is believed to be connected with the Supreme Leader of Iran himself. The account is seen to have various posts regarding the leader’s office as well. Though the threatening image has not been posted by any other accounts by Khamenei, it took prompt action against the alleged account after the post appeared. The image was also posted on the official website of the Supreme Leader and also seen to be retweeted by his official Farsi language account on Twitter which was deleted later.
The warning, written in the post, clearly refers to Trump’s action against Soleimani. Last month Trump supervised the U.S drone operation in Baghdad to exterminate Iranian Revolutionary Guard General Qassem Soleimani. Khamenei had declared vengeance against Trump soon after the incident.
Twitter and Facebook recently expelled Donald Trump from their social media platforms with the allegation of promoting violence in the U.S Capitol. Now Twitter bans the account for posting images to threaten Mr. Trump. According to a Twitter spokesman, the alleged post was made by a fake account and it had violated the company’s policy.
