Amazon Prime Video remains one of the leading streaming platforms, recently rolling out a significant update for the Apple TV that enhances the tvOS experience. Here’s what’s new.
Recent Prime Video update enhances tvOS integration
This updated Prime Video app is compatible with all Apple TV 4K models and the Apple TV HD, featuring six primary upgrades.
Here’s a summary from Amazon:
- Enhanced Scrolling: Utilizing the Siri Remote, users can now navigate the app with familiar gestures. A simple swipe in any direction allows quick scrolling through numerous shows to find the title they want.
- Improved Touchpad Gestures: Fast forwarding and rewinding content is now easier with new touchpad gestures, enabling users to swipe to their preferred playback location.
- Refined Search: The in-app search now instantly populates results as users type. Additionally, dictation can be used for faster voice-based searches.
- Cinematic Motion and Sound Effects: Users can experience sound effects while navigating through content and enjoy visual depth thanks to features like the parallax effect.
- High-Resolution Images: The Prime Video app now displays higher resolution images, allowing users to dive deeper into their favorite movies and shows.
- Enhanced Accessibility: Apple’s leading accessibility options, including VoiceOver, Hover Text, and Bold Text, are now integrated to improve the viewing experience.
I have yet to try the new app, but it appears to be a fantastic enhancement for Prime Video on Apple TV.
With better utilization of the Siri Remote, smoother gestures, quicker searches, and additional features, the app promises a more cohesive tvOS experience than ever before.
While I believe the Apple TV app offers a superior TV+ viewing experience, users can also subscribe to and view Apple TV+ directly through Amazon’s platform.
