Prince Andrew is showing his appreciation for his mother. The scandal-plagued royal shared a sweet, never-before-seen photo of himself and Queen Elizabeth II in honor of the late Queen recently.

The image, which was taken in 2006 at Windsor Castle, shows the pair smiling as they share a laugh. “Happy Birthday Mum! I love you very much,” Prince Andrew wrote alongside the photo on Instagram.

The Duke of York shared a sweet throwback photo with the late Queen Elizabeth II on Tuesday, wishing her a happy 92nd birthday. The image was taken in 2006 at Windsor Castle and shows the pair smiling as they share a laugh.

In addition to being pictured with his mother during this time, Andrew also spent several weeks with her at Balmoral Castle in Scotland during the summer holidays. They were last seen together as part of official duties when he joined her at Trooping The Colour 2019 earlier this month, reports People Magazine.

Prince Andrew Remembers His Mother

Prince Andrew has shared a sweet, never-before-seen photo of himself and Queen Elizabeth II in honor of her 95th birthday.

The scandal-plagued royal shared the touching pic on Instagram Friday and wrote, “I asked Her Majesty to wish everyone a Happy Birthday as she’s been doing since 1952. This year, I am delighted to share this beautiful image with you all.”

The photo was taken in 2006 at Windsor Castle when Prince Andrew was serving as an Air Force helicopter pilot during his service for Britain’s Royal Navy. In it, he can be seen smiling next to the queen; both look stylish and happy as they pose for the camera with arms crossed over their chests.

The pair have known each other for more than 50 years—they first met when Prince Charles took Princess Anne down the aisle at Westminster Abbey in 1973—but this is one of only three times they’ve ever been photographed together (the other two were taken by Cecil Beaton).
