Basketball fans were startled when Prince William as well as Kate Middleton unexpectedly showed up at the Boston Celts vs. Miami game on Wednesday.

Wycliffe “Wyc” Grousbeck, the president of the Celtics, welcomed the 40-year-old Prince and the Princess of Wales before they were seated courtside.

Prince William and wife were joined by Thomas “Satch” Sander, a legendary Celtics player, and Healey, the next governor of Massachusetts.

The Earthshot Award ceremony will take place on Friday, and the royal pair will have been in town over three days as of Wednesday. The goal of the Award is to develop and identify climate change solutions.

They were looking forward to meeting fans in the match as both took a hiatus from their busy schedule, as per insiders. As supporters clapped for them, they also were displayed on the Jumbotron.

There were references to The Earthshot Prize throughout the game, such as the Celtics’ custom of honoring a “Hero Among Us” before each game.

Ollie Perraul, a fifteen-year-old environmental activist representing Easthampton, Massachusetts, was the star on Wednesday evening. As the creator and president of Youth Climate Change action Now, she was an active participant in the Climate Movement Initiative since the age of 11.

The Boston Celts Shamrock Association, which offers grassroots programs and strategic financing to local charities helping those in need, was where the pair was scheduled to meet, according to Page Six.

They were particularly interested in learning about the “Curbside Care” mobile station, which will offer complete, simplified care to women and newborns during the initial 6 weeks of life directly at their doorstep thanks to a collaboration with Boston Medical Center.
