Apple has launched public beta 2 across several software platforms, including macOS Sequoia 15.4, iPadOS 18.4, tvOS 18.4, and others. These updates come just over a week after the initial betas and a day following the release of developer versions.
How to Install the Latest Beta Updates
Participants in Apple’s complimentary beta software program receive early access to a range of features and updates that have not yet been rolled out to the general audience.
Currently, the ongoing beta testing includes iOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, iPadOS 18.4, tvOS 18.4, HomePod 18.4, and watchOS 11.4, although there is no visionOS beta available for public testing as of now.
To install the latest beta 2 updates, simply navigate to the Software Update section within the Settings app on your device.
If you’re new to this program, you will need to enroll online first.
New Features in Beta 2 for iPadOS 18.4, macOS 15.4, and More
Along with various enhancements introduced in last week’s initial public betas—like the revamped Mail app—Apple has incorporated the following enhancements in beta 2.
There are seven new emoji included directly in the emoji keyboard. These consist of:
- Face with bags under eyes
- Fingerprint
- Leafless tree
- Root vegetable
- Harp
- Shovel
- Splatter
While you could create these emoji using Genmoji, it’s crucial for Apple to integrate new emoji into the keyboard so that all users can access them.
The Shortcuts app has received a variety of new actions to adjust settings across Apple applications, benefiting Shortcuts users and hinting at expanded capabilities for Siri that are on the horizon.
Speaking of Siri, the Control Center in iPadOS 18.4 now features a new Talk to Siri option, complementing the existing Type to Siri functionality.
For enhancements regarding Apple Intelligence, the Priority Notifications feature from beta 1 now allows you to customize which apps can send alerts included in this feature.
If you are downloading App Store applications or updates, you now have access to a pause button that allows you to temporarily halt a download instead of having to cancel it and start over.
Lastly, if you own an Apple TV 4K, there is a new addition for you: the TV app now features a plus button on the shows and movies visible in the top carousel, enabling quick additions to your watchlist.
