This year, Apple Music outshone Spotify with its Wrapped feature. However, that wasn’t the main concern for a Congressman from New Jersey who was caught fabricating his results.
U.S. Representative Josh Gottheimer from New Jersey found himself in the spotlight when he tweeted, “No surprises here,” adding, “Fun fact: My first ever concert was at Meadowlands to see The Boss!”
But wait, there was an even more amusing twist! Although the New Jersey-born Bruce Springsteen topped Gottheimer’s list of most-played songs on Spotify, the evidence showing Gottheimer’s fondness for The Boss was far from convincing.
In today’s era of AI, deceiving the internet requires a higher level of sophistication, as users on X highlighted. The Philadelphia Inquirer reported:
Upon further inspection, the discrepancies in font, spacing, and resolution in Gottheimer’s post stood out compared to genuine Wrapped results.
When approached by NJ.com columnist Jeremy Schneider, Gottheimer conceded the results were altered.
“This would be my Spotify Wrapped if I didn’t share my account with my 12 and 15-year-old kids,” he explained. “While it’s Springsteen all day for me — don’t get me wrong, I still love listening to Taylor Swift!”
Ah, the timeless family man excuse. By the way, Apple Music offers a fantastic family sharing plan! Regardless, this offers a refreshing twist from the usual New Jersey political scandals.
