The QAnon community received a decisive blow when the Presidential Inauguration of Joe Biden took place smoothly, on January 20, 2020. The organization, allegedly involved in the recent Capitol raid, were left dumbfounded when they witnessed Biden’s Inauguration go unhindered. Posts on Gab, a right-wing social media platform, and Twitter hinted that it was difficult for them to accept the reality. They still believed in their ‘plan’ that the ‘deep state’ would be exposed and shall be met with stringent, punitive measures accordingly.
They believed that as Joe Biden and his wife would step on the stage for his ceremony, he would be arrested by the militia at Mr. Trump’s behest. QAnon had expected to arrest Biden and his wife, Kamala D. Harris, Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and the others who were supposed to be ‘deep state’ members. Biden’s swearing-in as President created a rift, with some becoming distraught and too disappointed to address the chaos and confusion within the community. Some extremist influencers reassured them that all is not lost and that there is much left to hope for.
Ron Watkins and QAnon:
Ron Watkins, son of Jim Watkins, is a great influencer in the QAnon community. He has thousands of subscribers to his credit on Telegram and other platforms. He sent out a message to his followers asking them to respect the Constitution and behave as law-abiding citizens. Even if they held ideas and views that were in total disagreement with those that were held by the officials. Before signing off, though, he did mention working on some project that he would share with them in time.
QAnon, with its followers and steadfast belief, is a looming threat to the current Biden administration. What remains to be seen is how Biden and his team deal with it.
