This week, Meta revealed exciting new features set to arrive for its smart glasses created in collaboration with Ray-Ban. The Ray-Ban Meta glasses will soon incorporate advanced AI functionalities along with integration of Apple’s Shazam for song identification.
According to the latest announcement, software update v11 for the Ray-Ban Meta will feature Shazam integration, allowing users to simply say, “Hey Meta, what song is this?” The glasses will then use Shazam to identify the music and provide the answer.
“We’ve all experienced that moment: you’re out and about when a great track starts playing—but either it’s something new, niche, or even a classic whose title or artist escapes you at that moment. Now, your glasses can handle it,” Meta stated in a blog update.
This news follows earlier this year when Meta introduced Apple Music integration for its Ray-Ban smart glasses. Through this feature, users can ask Meta’s virtual assistant to play any song, playlist, album, station, or artist—completely hands-free.
In addition to Shazam capabilities, the Ray-Ban Meta glasses will receive new AI features with the update. One such feature is Live AI, which enables users to share their real-time view with the glasses so that Meta AI can assist with daily tasks. With Live AI, you can ask questions without repeatedly saying “Hey Meta.”
Furthermore, Meta is enhancing its glasses with Live Translation. When conversing with someone who speaks a different language, users will hear their words translated in real-time through the glasses’ speakers. This feature was hinted at during a live event earlier this year by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg.
According to Meta, the v11 software update will start rolling out to Ray-Ban Meta glasses users today. However, the AI features will be available only in beta for participants in Meta’s Early Access Program.
If you own Ray-Ban Meta glasses, follow these steps to upgrade:
- Launch the Meta View app on your mobile device
- Access the Settings menu
- Select the Your Glasses option
- Tap on Updates
Ensure your glasses are within reach, paired with your phone, and sufficiently charged before proceeding with the update.
