Today, Mark Gurman from Bloomberg confirmed that Apple is set to release a foldable iPhone in 2026. Various sources have previously indicated that Apple is developing this product. As per Gurman, the design will resemble that of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, deviating from a clamshell folding format.
According to Gurman, this innovative Apple foldable will incorporate many of the same features as the forthcoming ultra-slim iPhone 17 Air, which is anticipated to be one of Apple’s thinnest devices to date at just 5.5mm.
The iPhone 17 Air will have some trade-offs, particularly regarding its speakers and cameras, but users can still expect the complete iPhone experience, including solid battery life. In essence, this phone serves as a conceptual exercise to maximize component integration within such a slim profile, a critical aspect for the development of a folding model.
While details about the upcoming Apple foldable are limited, Gurman predicts it will be priced at approximately $2000. Additionally, he notes that it may take some time to boost production levels, leading to limited availability initially.
If all proceeds as anticipated, this foldable iPhone is expected to be introduced alongside the iPhone 18 lineup. Supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously indicated that the foldable iPhone will feature a 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner display, akin to an iPad mini.
