Following criticism from the public, including from the network’s talent, NBC has terminated their newest contributor, according to an internal email acquired by NPR that NBC Chairman Cesar Conde addressed to staff members. Only two weeks after leaving the Republican National Committee, the TV network recruited Ronna McDaniel, the former chair of the organization.

“A newsroom in particular has to be coherent and well-aligned to flourish. In the email announcing McDaniel’s departure, Conde stated, “It has become evident over the last few days that this appointment undermines that goal.”

Ronna McDaniel Still Has To Deal With Credibility Issues

“I want to personally apologize to our team members who felt we let them down,” Conde said. “While this was a collective recommendation by some members of our leadership team, I approved it and take full responsibility for it.” When McDaniel’s hire was announced, were internal concerns raised. Her new colleagues swiftly voiced their concerns on air, which led NBC to review Ronna McDaniel’s contract, which is allegedly worth $300,000 annually. Chuck Todd, the top political analyst for NBC, suggested that their employers should apologize to Kristen Welker, the host of Meet the Press, for having spoken to McDaniel in a prior program.

“NBC News now pays her to contribute. Todd went on, saying, “I have no idea whether any answer she gave you was because she didn’t want to mess up her contract.” Ronna McDaniel still had to deal with “credibility issues.”
