The idea of integrating LLM technology into Siri could signify a noteworthy change, though these plans generally align with Apple’s trend of refining existing products.
Ultimately, I believe Apple has more intriguing AI innovations planned than what the memo implies.
One Less Edge for iPhone 17 Pro Max
This year, Apple’s flagship iPhone, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, has been expected to feature a “much-reduced” Dynamic Island.
This anticipated modification isn’t entirely surprising, as it was commonly believed that Apple would continue to minimize the cutout after transitioning from the notch to the existing Dynamic Island.
However, according to Ming-Chi Kuo, it seems that this exclusive change for the Pro Max won’t materialize this year. He stated, “I anticipate the Dynamic Island size will remain mostly unchanged across the iPhone 17 series in the second half of 2025.”
The term ‘largely unchanged’ allows for some potential adjustments, yet Kuo appears to be refuting previous claims confidently.
My Insights
Occasionally, Apple provides its Pro Max models with distinctive features, while in other years, the differences are minimal compared to the standard Pro version. As someone who usually opts for the smaller Pro model, I feel a bit relieved this year not to experience any envy towards the Pro Max.
The current Dynamic Island isn’t a bother for me, but this rumor does make me ponder whether Apple intends to keep this design steady for a longer period.

There has been considerable debate among various sources regarding the upcoming iPhone SE 4, specifically about whether it will be equipped with a notch or a Dynamic Island.
This week, display analyst Ross Young confirmed that the new iPhone SE will feature a notch—similar to the iPhone 14.

Young has a strong track record when it comes to rumors related to the supply chain, particularly concerning displays. Consequently, I view his statement as a solid confirmation of the features of the new iPhone SE.
Introducing the Dynamic Island might have seemed like a stretch for Apple’s budget model. Given that this device is expected to carry many features from the iPhone 16, Apple needs to ensure that the flagship model has enough differentiation to justify its price. Retaining the notch for the new SE is a sensible choice.
