Scottie Scheffler Was Playing In His Fifth Masters
Scottie Scheffler had posted 7 under par going into the final round, which put him in first place. In 2022, Scheffler—who was playing in his fifth Masters—bested superstar Rory McIlroy by a margin of three strokes to win the esteemed competition.
On Sunday, Scheffler’s fellow American opponent Collin Morikawa, who was competing in his sixth event, was not far behind him. Coming into Sunday, he was six under par. He ended at four under, sharing third place with Tommy Fleetwood and Max Homa. Ludvig Åberg of Sweden came in second with a 7-under score. Tiger Woods, the golfing icon, set a new Masters record before finishing 16 over par. Having performed well enough in the first two rounds to advance to the second half, Woods became the first player in tournament history to “cut” 24 times in a row. He had previously shared the record with Gary Player and Fred Couples for the most consecutive cuts, 23.
