Serena Williams made a family event out of her participation in Meghan Markle’s brand-new podcast Archetypes.
The tennis pro, 40, teased her upcoming appearance on Markle’s podcast on Tuesday by posting a black-and-white photo of herself with Olympia, 4, and Markle, 41. Serena Williams has admitted that she only slept for 30 minutes before a tournament because her daughter Olympia’s injury at the 2018 French Open terrified the living daylights out of her.
Williams finally withdrew due to injury before her match against Maria Sharapova in the fourth round, making the 2018 Roland Garros hardly a memorable one for her.

Moreover, it was her maiden Grand Slam since the birth of her daughter Olympia in the latter part of 2017. Williams talked about her “wild experience” from that French Open edition, which was also the edition where her medically advised “catsuit” drew fire from some quarters, on the Archetypes podcast with Meghan Markle. Williams recently said that she wore the catsuit attire after giving birth to Olympia for her health.
The 23-time Major winner continued her talk with Markle by revealing that her daughter injured her wrist in Paris the same year when she slipped off a chair while being closely guarded. She was so uncomfortable and guilty after that incident. Williams remembered rushing her daughter to the hospital and arriving back at her house at four in the morning.
The American, who had a match scheduled for that morning, was only able to get 30 minutes of sleep because she would not let her kid leave her side. Serena Williams, who ultimately prevailed in her match, admitted that the experience had left her completely exhausted. She emphasized that she was prepared to do anything for Olympia and expressed wonder at how her mother, Oracene, managed to raise five children.
