The widely acclaimed second season of Severance continues to break records for Apple TV+. In the latest promotional push, Ben Stiller made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s show last night, where he disclosed that a guest role in the premiere of season two was initially offered to former President Barack Obama.

The premiere of Severance’s second season features a stop-motion propaganda video for Lumon, which includes a speaking Lumon building.
It was already known that Keanu Reeves provided the voice for this animated structure.
However, Ben Stiller recently revealed that Obama was approached before Reeves.
Yes, you guessed it—President Barack Obama.
Stiller shared the story of how he contacted the former president via his lawyer and received a personal email back:
“I got an email back from President Barack Obama saying, ‘Hey Ben, big fan of the show. Loved season one, can’t wait for season two. Unfortunately, I don’t think I can fit this into my schedule.’”
It certainly would have been impressive for Severance to feature President Obama, no matter how small the role might have been.
As Stiller noted, Obama likely had more pressing matters to attend to than voicing an animated Lumon building.

Perhaps President Obama will find a window in his schedule for a cameo in season 3 of Severance, which is currently in development.
At the very least, it’s amusing to think that he’s keeping up with the show just like the rest of us.
