Severance Season 2: Reviews Declare It ‘Worth the Wait’ and Official Podcast Now Live!

With just over a week to go until the premiere of Severance season 2, fans have two reasons to celebrate today: rave reviews for the upcoming season and the launch of an official Severance podcast.

Critics agree: Severance’s first season ‘wasn’t a fluke’

Severance is a series that’s best watched without any spoilers. It appears that Apple has given reviewers quite an extensive list of spoilers that should remain undisclosed in their critiques.

Nonetheless, I’ve specifically included excerpts from reviews that steer clear of spoilers, but are sure to amp up your excitement for season 2, which premieres on January 17.

Andrew Webster from The Verge states:

the initial season of the sci-fi thriller wasn’t a fluke…season 2 strikes just as powerfully as the first, exploring deeper into the dark, bizarre corners of the Severance universe while introducing fascinating new elements.

Angie Han of The Hollywood Reporter mentions:

It will come as no surprise to anyone who has ever held a job that a corporation like Lumon actively discourages solidarity, individuality, or emotion. Severance goes a step further, highlighting how corporate capitalism alienates us from our potential best selves. It’s a season that feels frequently grimmer, less often humorous, and not necessarily more rewarding—but it resonates, chillingly close to home.

Belen Edwards of Mashable asserts:

Somehow, Severance manages to surpass itself in its second season, delving even deeper into its distinctive sci-fi concept and consistently keeping us on edge. Prepare for the unexpected this season!

Many additional reviews describe Severance season 2 as ‘worth the wait,’ as it has been nearly three years in the making.

Official Severance companion podcast launches today

Debuting today is an exciting new companion podcast titled ‘The Severance Podcast,’ featuring Ben Stiller and lead actor Adam Scott.

In anticipation of the season 2 premiere, Stiller and Scott will revisit the first season in its entirety and discuss various aspects—joined by special guests. The first two episodes are currently available.

After the kickoff of season 2, the podcast will continue with the duo discussing each episode weekly.

Interestingly, despite Apple producing official Apple TV+ podcasts, this new Severance show is not branded as such. Instead, it’s created by Audacy and branded accordingly.

Are you excited for Severance season 2? Will you be checking out the new podcast? Share your thoughts in the comments.
