Shakira is speaking up about discovering resilience after heartbreak weeks after her divorce from Gerard Piqué.
On Wednesday, the Colombian singer spoke with Enrique Acevedo of Canal Estrellas in an interview (conducted in Spanish) on learning to feel complete on her own.
“I have to admit that I have always been highly emotionally dependent [on guys]. I was madly in love with love “Shakira, 46, told the program that she used to believe a woman required a guy to be complete.
In some way, she added, “I have learned about it from a different viewpoint and believe that I will be alright on my own. “A lady grows stronger as a result of facing challenges in life. Coming out stronger indicates that you are becoming more aware of your vulnerabilities and learning to embrace them.”
Shakira Is A She-Wolf
In the present, Shakira claims to be “on the way up” and to have “managed to believe that I am sufficient” – two things she “never dreamed would happen.” She shared boys Sasha, 8, and Milan, 10, with Piqué, 36, and said of them, “I feel whole — because I feel that I can rely on myself and I have 2 children who rely on me.
And over 11 years since they initially publicly acknowledged their relationship, Shakira and the soccer player made the announcement that they were splitting up in June. In a joint statement, the couple expressed their regret at having to announce their separation. “Since the safety of our children is our top priority right now, we kindly request your respect for their privacy. I sincerely appreciate your consideration and respect.”
Since then, in January, Piqué and their girlfriend Clara Chia Mart, 23, have made their Instagram accounts public. Shakira released three songs in the interim that appear to address the breakup.
