At CES 2025, ShiftCam introduced PLANCK, touted as the world’s smallest portable SSD, perfect for storing large video files from your iPhone.
Weighing only 10 grams, PLANCK connects directly to the USB-C port of your iPhone. It boasts impressive transfer speeds of up to 1050 MB/s and supports ProRes recording at 4K/120 with iPhone 15 Pro and newer models. Its compact design significantly facilitates large video recording, especially considering the hefty fees Apple charges for additional iPhone storage.
According to ShiftCam, PLANCK is drop-resistant, IP65 rated for water resistance, and robust enough to withstand the rigors of creative travel.
In a recent press release, ShiftCam’s CEO Benson Chiu stated:
Our goal with PLANCK is to remove the obstacles of conventional storage, allowing creators to concentrate on their craft. We’ve created a device that is so compact yet powerful that it seamlessly integrates into any creator’s workflow.
PLANCK will be offered in 1TB and 2TB versions, priced at $189 and $299, respectively, with a launch scheduled for spring.
Additionally, ShiftCam will initiate a Kickstarter campaign next month where early backers can preorder PLANCK at discounted rates. During the preorder phase, 1TB will be priced at $125, and 2TB at $199, although the exact Kickstarter link has yet to be revealed.
ShiftCam also introduced a USB-C hub that lets you connect multiple PLANCK SSDs to your iPhone. Pricing information for the hub is still pending.
