Apple TV+ has just concluded Silo season 2, but the show has already been renewed for seasons 3 and 4. The show’s creator has now announced a significant visual transformation expected in the upcoming season.
Showrunner on Silo season 3: ‘there will be sunshine’
Contemporary television series can sometimes suffer from poor lighting.
This issue can be referred to as the “Game of Thrones problem,” where some of the most costly and eagerly awaited episodes were criticized for being too dark for many viewers to discern the action onscreen, despite their high production budgets.
Similar to that, Silo’s previous two seasons have also had quite a dark aesthetic, with season 2 being particularly challenging to see.
However, Graham Yost, the creator and showrunner of Silo, recently stated in an interview that a significant change is on the horizon for season 3.
**minor spoilers ahead**
When asked if the cliffhanger in the season 2 finale hinted at a change in scenery for the next season, Yost confirmed that was indeed the case.
Matt Webb Mitovich reported at TVLine on Yost’s comments:
“Yes, we will be outdoors, and we will experience the world, and there will be sunshine,” Yost revealed, referring to some of the brighter aspects of Season 3.
That being said, “We do return to Silo 17” in Season 3, he pointed out. “And keep in mind, they’re dealing with a significant power issue there, so light is scarce.”
So, there’s still hope for a brighter season 3.
The upcoming season is anticipated to alternate between the second book of the Silo trilogy—continuing the story of the characters introduced at the end of season 2—and the third book, weaving the two narratives together similar to how the previous season tackled different silos.
This means substantial portions of the show should be significantly brighter and easier to follow than before. Still, we can expect some darker scenes set in Silo 17 as well.
