Social Security Payments for February 2025: Funds Are Coming Your Way

Beneficiaries can expect the next round of Social Security payments to arrive shortly. While your payment date and week generally remain consistent from month to month, understanding how they are assigned can be a bit complex. Let’s break it down.

Currently, beneficiaries are likely seeing a modest increase in their monthly benefits due to the 2.5% COLA adjustment. Those receiving Supplemental Security Income or Social Security Disability Insurance have also noticed this enhancement in their monthly payments. If you’re uncertain about the timing of your check, you’re in the right spot.

When will I receive my Social Security check?

Curious about when in the month you will receive your check? Here’s the Social Security and SSDI payment schedule for February.

Social Security payment schedule for February 2025

You’ve been receiving Social Security since before May 1997 Feb. 3
If your birthday is between the 1st and 10th of any month Feb. 12
If your birthday is between the 11th and 20th of any month Feb. 19
If your birthday is between the 21st and 31st of any month Feb. 26

How is my Social Security payment date determined?

Generally, Social Security payments begin on the second Wednesday of each month, with the remaining two payments distributed on the following Wednesdays. Your payment week is influenced by your birthdate, though there is one significant exception that will be detailed below.

Birthdate range: Social Security check date
1st to 10th 2nd Wednesday of the month
11th to 20th 3rd Wednesday of the month
21st to 31st 4th Wednesday of the month

Will my other government benefits be paid on the same day?

If you have been receiving Social Security benefits since before May 1997, or if you receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income, your payment schedule isn’t dictated by your birthdate. Instead, payments are disbursed each month on consistent dates, with a few exceptions.

Payments for Social Security are made on the 3rd of each month, while SSI payments are sent on the 1st. These dates may shift if the 1st or the 3rd lands on a weekend or holiday. For example, last year March 3 fell on a weekend, leading to Social Security recipients receiving their payments early, on March 1.

The only benefits that follow the same schedule are Social Security and Social Security Disability Insurance.

If your check is delayed or missing, the Social Security Administration recommends waiting three additional mailing days before reaching out. After this period, you can contact the national toll-free number: 1-800-772-1213.

The SSA advises that “wait times to speak with a representative are generally shorter in the morning, later in the week, and later in the month.”

If you struggle to connect with the SSA via the national number, consider using their office locator to find a local office for assistance.
