The final Social Security payments for March 2025 will be disbursed on the 26th. Here’s what to do if your payment doesn’t arrive.
The last round of Social Security payments for March is scheduled for the 26th. According to the Social Security Administration (SSA), individuals born between the 21st and 31st of any month, or those who began receiving benefits after May 1997, can expect their payments on this date.
What To Do If Your Payment Is Late?
If your payment does not arrive on time, first check your bank account or payment card; delays can sometimes occur due to bank processing issues.
After that, allow three business days before contacting the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 (or 1-800-325-0778 for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing). Alternatively, you can visit a local SSA office; making an appointment in advance may reduce your waiting time.
The SSA suggests enrolling in Direct Deposit as the quickest and safest method to receive benefits. This method transfers funds directly to your account, avoiding the risks associated with paper checks.

Changes to Social Security Rules on March 31
Social Security continues to be a vital resource for many individuals over 65, as nearly 90% depend on these benefits according to an SSA fact sheet from December 2024.
Beginning March 31, verifying identity via phone to access benefits or update payment information will no longer be permitted. Beneficiaries must utilize the SSA’s online portal or visit an office in person. The agency’s updated FAQ indicates that these measures for identity confirmation are aimed at “blocking fraudsters from accessing current and future benefits.”

Acting SSA Commissioner Lee Dudek stated in a press release: “Americans deserve to have their Social Security records protected with the highest levels of integrity and vigilance. For too long, the agency has relied on outdated methods for identity verification. Social Security can enhance its protection for Americans while speeding up service.”
