How much can one receive?

The amount of Social Security benefits varies based on the age at which one retires. For instance, if an individual retires at the full retirement age of 67, they can receive a maximum benefit of $4,018 monthly. Retiring earlier will reduce this benefit to approximately $2,831. Conversely, if one delays retirement until age 70, the benefit could increase to $5,108.

SSI benefits fluctuate based on several factors including income, type of disability, and the number of caregivers or household members cohabiting with the individual. The maximum monthly SSI payment is set at $967 for individuals, rising to $1,450 for couples.

When is the next payment?

The upcoming payment for beneficiaries in Group 4 is scheduled for April 23, designated for those born between the 21st and 31st of any month. If you’re part of any group and have not received your payment as anticipated, you are advised to wait three business days prior to contacting the SSA at 1-800-772-1213 for support.

Are there any updates to the SSA’s policies?

The SSA previously indicated that new benefit claims must be processed in-person for individuals unable to navigate the SSA’s online platform. However, on April 13, the SSA announced that all claim types could now be completed over the phone.

According to a news release by the SSA on April 12, “Beginning April 14, 2025, SSA will allow individuals to complete all claim types via telephone, supported by enhanced anti-fraud capabilities to protect beneficiaries and streamline the customer experience.”

“We are updating how we serve the public by enhancing security and accessibility. These changes improve our capacity to detect and prevent fraud while offering more flexible options for individuals to access their benefits,” stated SSA acting commissioner Leland Dudek.
