The much-anticipated Spotify Wrapped 2024 has arrived, showcasing an AI Podcast created in collaboration with Google’s NotebookLM. Two AI hosts from the popular note-taking and research tool guide you through a personalized recap of your musical year.
While the Audio Overviews feature in NotebookLM utilizes your uploaded content to craft a brief podcast, this Spotify edition delves into your listening habits, highlighting your top songs, artists, and the evolution of your musical taste throughout 2024.
It’s an interactive dialogue tailored to your distinct musical preferences, ensuring each experience is one-of-a-kind.
Google expressed that they “had a blast creating these with Spotify.” The collaborative branding is evident, as both companies’ logos appear prominently throughout the experience.
To check it out, navigate to the “Wrapped” section on the Spotify Home tab via Android or iOS. “Your Wrapped AI Podcasts” will be prominently displayed at the top of the screen alongside Your Wrapped, Top Songs, and more. Alternatively, you can visit: spotify.com/wrappedAIpodcast.
Upon accessing it, you’ll find a player for listening, which also offers a “Try NotebookLM” option. The AI Podcast can be shared and downloaded to your device, so it’s advisable to do so promptly, as it’s available for a limited duration.
In comparison to other generative AI applications, the accuracy standards are more relaxed here; however, Google warns that “our AI hosts might occasionally mispronounce certain words and may not provide exhaustive summaries.”
The Spotify Wrapped AI podcast is available in English for qualified Free and Premium users located in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Sweden. Additionally, Spotify’s AI DJ and AI Playlist features can also be found within Wrapped, offering capabilities to generate playlists based on “my top genres” or “artists similar to my top 5.”
Google first showcased Audio Overviews during the I/O 2024 event, launching them in September to transform your documents, slides, and charts into an audio format. These features gained immense popularity for their authenticity. In October, NotebookLM introduced the option to “Customize” the generated mini podcast by specifying preferred topics or levels of expertise.
