Even as we await a decision for more stimulus payments after the third stimulus check. But several states are willing to take the initiative to get workers to return to work. Arizona, for instance, has offered $2,000 to people willing to join the workforce.
Arizona’s ‘Back To Work Program’ Stimulus Check
Arizona has worked out a novel method to induce workers to return to work. It is offering an upfront payment of $1,000 to unemployed workers if they agree to take part-time work. And that amount will be doubled to $2,000 if they are willing to go in for a full-time job.
The incentive will be funded by federal grants. Governor Doug Ducey said that paying workers to get back into the workforce was a better option than paying them to be idle. There is more than the $2,000 state stimulus check for residents. You will also qualify for child care and community college payments, the Governor said.
If you work for 40 hours per week for a minimum of 8 weeks in the first 10 weeks in a new job, you will get the full amount. You get a one-time $1,000 stimulus check if you work a 20 hour week for eight out of 10 weeks. To qualify for the incentive, you should work at qualifying employment from May 13, 2021, to September 6, 2021.
Further details are awaited on the method for applying to the ‘Back To Work Program’. The process for applying will only be available on July 10, the Department of Economic Security has reported. But you need to retain your pay stubs to claim the amount.
Getting Out Of Unemployment Programs To Qualify
You should quit your unemployment program to qualify for the program, and as proof of work, provide the contact particulars of the employer and the pay stubs.
The program is a way to address the issue of labor shortage. Other states too have said they would not be participating any more in the unemployment program that pays $300 a week to those eligible.
But the extended federal unemployment benefits of $300 per week will continue as scheduled till September 6, 2021.
Oklahoma, Montana, and New Hampshire have also devised a similar program to encourage residents to join the workforce.
