Stimulus Checks of up to $1,050 will be given to millions of people in one state to help with the high cost of petrol and other expenses.
The Stimulus Checks to Californians will be made following a framework agreement on the state budget for 2022–2023 between legislative leaders and Governor Gavin Newsom, the governor’s office said on Sunday.
The proposal would use a portion of California’s historic $97 billion budget surplus to give money back to taxpayers.
According to a press release from Newsom’s office, 23 million Californians would get payments totaling up to $1,050 as part of a $17 billion “inflation relief” plan. The agreement stipulated that people with dependents and lower incomes would get higher direct payments.

Couples making less than $150,000 annually will get $350 in benefits, while individuals making less than $75,000 will receive an additional $350 if they have at least one dependent.
Thus, $1,050 would be given to a married couple with one kid and an annual income of less than $150,000. Couples and those making less than $125,000 annually would receive $250 apiece, with an additional $250 for dependents.
Couples and individuals with incomes under $500,000 annually would get $200 each, with an additional $200 for dependents. Along with a deferral of the state’s diesel sales tax, the package also includes greater funding to assist Californians in paying their rent and energy bills.
In the aftermath of the Supreme Court’s shocking decision on Friday, which overruled Roe v. Wade, the seminal 1973 decision that had established a constitutional right to abortion, it has also donated $200 million to reproductive health care services.
Newsom had suggested delivering $400 Stimulus Checks to registered car owners as a method to counter rising gas prices before lawmakers rejected his idea.
