Stimulus Checks

The first monthly Social Security Stimulus Check is distributed on the first Friday of the month. Keep in mind that, similar to January’s payments, the Cost-of-Living-Adjustment (COLA) for 2023 will be included in your Social Security check this February. Your benefit will go up by 8.7 percent this year thanks to the increase.

The Social Security Administration sends out payments in waves throughout the month. Read on to find out when you may anticipate receiving your next Social Security payment and how that date is determined.

Learn how and when to start getting your benefits and how to put off receiving them to receive a greater amount at a later date.

Wage increases due to the 2023 cost-of-living adjustment will appear in February. In February (PDF format), these are the expected dates for receiving your Social Security check and/or Supplemental Security Income funds:

Stimulus Checks of February’s Supplemental Security Income will be made on February 1. Those who are dually eligible for SSI and Social Security and have been since before May 1997 will start receiving their Social Security benefits on February 3. Anyone with a birthdate between the first and tenth of a particular month will begin receiving Social Security payments on February 8.

Those who have a birthday between February 11 and February 20 receive their Stimulus Check on February 15. Those who were born between January 1 and December 31 are eligible to receive their Social Security payments on February 22.

If you started receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 or if you receive both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income, your payment schedule will be different. Instead of receiving your Social Security or Supplemental Security Income payment on the third Wednesday of the month, you will now get these payments on the first of the month.
