As part of a 12-month trial initiative launched in collaboration with the City and Northwestern University, 150 families will receive $500 Stimulus Checks each month on a prepaid debit card. The families will be able to utilize the money however they see fit. The funds will strengthen the current social safety net, the City of Evanston said in a statement.
To be eligible for the Stimulus Check, participants must be Evanston residents with family incomes at or below 250% of the federal poverty level. The federal poverty threshold in 2022 is $13,590 for an individual and $27,750 for a family of four, with the exception of Alaska and Hawaii.
Stimulus Check For Illinois Residents
Participants, in addition to meeting the maximum income limits, must fall within one of the following categories, per the news release: at least 62 years old, not a citizen, and between the ages of 18 and 24
The financing for the Stimulus Checks comes from the City of Chicago, Northwestern University, and an additional $700,000 from the American Rescue Plan for 2021. A research component of the so-called Guaranteed Income Pilot Program will examine the results of providing persons in need with guaranteed funds to spend as they see fit. On August 29, 2022, the program’s application period will be over.

Candidates must also be undocumented community members between the ages of 18 and 24 and be 62 years of age or older.
