As we near the end of the year, millions of Americans will be receiving their stimulus checks. The first $2 billion in funds for state unemployment benefits is set to be paid out this month, with an additional $21 billion to follow over the next two years. This is good news for jobless workers and states alike, but it’s not all that there is to know about the stimulus plan.
Stimulus Check Money For A Better New Year
- Alabama and Missouri
- Florida and Maine
- South Carolina and Rhode Island.
According to a report from the National Association of State Budget Officers (NASBO), an estimated $14 billion could be going to these three states, which would make for a significant chunk of the $90 billion in stimulus funds that have been allocated so far.
You may have heard that the last round of stimulus checks were given out in May. But what you might not know is that some states are still sending out their final checks this month, including Florida and Maine.
Florida sent out its last round of payments (1.3 million households)recently, while Maine expects to send out about 300,000 more payments by the end of the month. These are among the largest states that have sent out their final rounds of stimulus payments so far; both have typically been among the first states to do so each year since 2010 when these programs began.
What does this mean for you? If you live in either state, congratulations! You’re getting a little extra cash from Uncle Sam as he packs up his bag and heads home after several years spent improving your tax returns while also helping families stay afloat during tough times.
