If you filed taxes in either 2020 or 2021, there’s a good chance that you’ll be receiving one of these checks soon. If you didn’t file taxes, however—or if you did but had an adjusted gross income above the thresholds listed above—you must wait until 2022 to receive your stimulus payment. The stimulus check is based on your tax return for either 2020 or 2021, whichever is more recent.
Some Americans who were eligible for a stimulus check didn’t receive one because they didn’t file a tax return. These taxpayers will get their checks via direct deposit this summer or fall, according to the IRS’ website. If you’re expecting a check and haven’t received one yet, that could be why: You weren’t required to file in order to receive the money.
Stimulus Check Worth $3200 Coming Up
Additionally, some people may not want their personal information shared with third parties; using direct deposit ensures that this does not happen as it requires you to provide bank account information rather than include your Social Security number on any paperwork sent via mail (this is another reason why I always recommend filing electronically).
If you’re expecting a stimulus check from Uncle Sam and didn’t file a tax return in 2019 or 2020, it’s not too late to get your money.
If you are due a stimulus payment, but did not file and pay taxes during the 2019 or 2020 tax years, it’s still possible to receive them. In order to qualify for this benefit:
- You must have lived in your own home or apartment for at least six months during one of those two tax years.
- You must not have received a previous stimulus payment (unless it was for another person).
The people of Alaska will be expecting a new stimulus check amounting to $3200. The announcement has been made recently by the government and has got the people pretty much excited about the same.
