A confusion has sprung up recently with regard to the matter of stimulus check. The origin of the issues is the announcement made by the IRS. It has been stated that the citizens will soon receive the monthly payments from the credit of the expanded child tax. It will be given precisely by the 15th of July. following this, nobody knows what will happen to the parents who are unmarried or divorced. 

Stimulus Check Details

The stimulus check payments that are to be made on the monthly basis, are drawn from the American Rescue Plan. The total amount of the plan is 1.9 trillion USD. The main objective behind the fund is to provide financial support to those families who have suffered a lot during the coronavirus pandemic. As per the report, the amount of the payment is said to be 300 USD per month. It is said to improve the lives of 88% of the children who have suffered by bringing them out of the situation of poverty.   

The maximum amount allotted for the credit of child tax is 3,600 USD for the year 2021. This is for each and every child who is under 6 years old. The amount allotted for those children falling between the age group of 6 to 17 years old. The stimulus check payments of 250 USD to the maximum amount of 300 USD will be distributed from the first week of the month of July. And it will be completed until the month of December. 

Now addressing the question of unmarried or divorced parents, the stimulus check payments will be sent to that parent who made the claim of the child in the year 2020. The reason for this is because the advance payments have been based by the IRS on the tax return of the year 2020.
